Every week we will be starting a new Story Telling competition - with great prizes! The current prize is 2000 NP, plus a rare item!!! This is how it works...

We start a story and you have to write the next few paragraphs. We will select the best submissions every day and put it on the site, and then you have to write the next one, all the way until the story finishes. Got it? Well, submit your paragraphs below!

Story Thirteen - Ended February 23rd

I have a "problem pet" and I'm not proud. Spenk, my wild Kyrii, has been nothing but trouble since I picked him up from the pound. Don't get me wrong, I love the little guy like he loves his hair but he's just too much sometimes. Just last week he ate all my items and the key to my safety deposit box. Noboby wanted to help me because they were afraid of the little imp. I had nowhere to turn and didn't know what to do until I was watching TV the other day and I saw a commercial for this show called Pets Behaving Badly and they were looking for owners to come on and discuss their pet's behavioural problems. ...I picked up the phone and called them to try and sign up. It really did seem like a good idea at the time, and I was desperate. I began to explain my situation, but the Neopet on the other end just said, "Sure, the next open filming is on Tuesday." I thought that was a bit suspicious. I mean, how many TV shows just let you on? Just like that? So they took my name, and my Neopet Spenk's name, and we were going to be on the show. That's when I realized that today was Tuesday. "Well," I thought, "I don't have any plans anyway..." I called for Spenk to come, telling him that we were going to somewhere. He bounded over happily, and asked where we were going. I told him it was a surprise. Spenk agreed, and we left for the Neopian TV Station... Author : kittensix

...When we arrived at the T.V. station, Spenk was so excited. "We're going to be on T.V!" he kept cheering. Well anyway, we went inside and the secretary led us right through. She smiled as she saw Spenk. "Hmmm... we've never had a Kyrii in here before." I didn't like the way she looked at Spenk as she said that. I should have known something was up. Maybe if I had stopped to think about it I would have realized that something was wrong, but Spenk was so excited that he dragged me onward. Suddenly, we were on stage! I looked around at the (actually rather small) audience sitting in front of me with my mouth wide open. I didn't know what to say. Finally the host came up out of nowhere and spoke to me... ..."Hello! And welcome to Pets Behaving Badly!" He patted Spenk on the head, but in a rather weird way. I sat in the chair with Spenk about 10 feet away. I wondered why they wouldn't let him be next to me. The man started talking again. "Well, thank you for coming! So this is Spenk, your Kyrri. You said that he's acting terrible?" "Yes," I replied. "But, he can sometimes be a little good. Like when I pet him, he's pretty nice and not that mischievous...for a while but when..." A man in the crowd boomed, "EXCUSE ME! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!? YOU'RE SUPPOSED SAY TERRIBLE THINGS ABOUT THIS DIRTY LITTLE MONGREL!" In shock, I began blurting out the bad things about little Spenk. I must have said about 50 things! When I finally finished, I noticed something--SPENK WAS GONE!! Then host of the show said to me, "You said that there were many downs about Spenk, so we decided to take him away. You know, a little vacation for you." "WHAT??!!" I wailed. How could they do this?! Those cold hearted liars! The host's annoying voice once again rang out. "The next time you'll see him is in the clothing shop for 8000 NP in the fur jacket aisle!!!" ...jumped up out of my chair or at least I tried to. I couldn't get up! Four Myncis were holding me down. "I'm sorry," said the host's annoying voice, "but we just can't have you running around spreading our secrets, can we?" The audience began to boo and hiss at me. He started to laugh again. A third Mynci came over. He had a bottle of some brownish looking liquid. I squinted, trying to read the label of it. It read: "Bono's Memory Potion! The Very Best!" Oh great! I struggled harder than ever, turning this way and that. The two thugs changed their handholds to my waist where it was easier to hold. My head was ringing with the laugh of the announcer and the booing of the audience. I clawed at their paws, and bit and kicked. If they were going to make me drink that stuff they were going to have to force it down. I kicked once more and knocked the potion to the floor. THUD! I suddenly felt dizzy. The last thing I saw was one of the Myncis carrying a small bag that had something struggling in it. "Don't worry, Spenk! I'll save you!" I yelled. THUD! And then my world went black... ...When I regained consciousness, I found myself in a very dark and filthy room. "Hello!" I yelled into the abyssal darkness. There was no reply. I took a step forward using my hands to feel the surrounding area. It was so silent that I could hear my heart thumping in my chest. It seemed like forever but I finally reached a wall. I walked along the wall hoping to find an exit to this darkness. Then right in front of me I saw a faint glow. "That must be the exit," I said to myself. I walked on a couple of hundred metres, getting closer and closer to the mysterious glow. That miniscule amount of light was enough for me to see the corridor that I was walking in. The walls were covered with moss and tiny cracks that housed the most gruesome of insects that I had ever seen. "I should never have gone on this stupid show," I said to myself. ...and suddenly I was face to face with an enormous, intimidating black door that read: "WASTE MANAGEMENT". There was an unusual amount of light coming out from behind - too much to be a simple garbage room, or a janitor's closet. I felt the hairs rising on the back of my neck, but I took a deep breath and opened the door. As soon as the surprisingly light door swung open, I discovered that 'waste management' was not referring to garbage, it was the management of the 'waste', which was our Neopets! I heard terrified squeaks and squawks from every direction. Then I heard Spenk... his crying rang out and I felt like someone had punched me in the gut. Less than a second after I stepped in the door, more Myncis appeared, wearing Uni masks...they wrestled me out but I had to get back in, I just had to! I shouted, but it was no use... ...I thought desperately for an idea. "Think! Think!" I said to myself. Then an idea struck me like a bolt of lightning. I reached into my pocket and felt around. There was a paperclip and a gum wrapper...my only hope. This was kind of like Spenk's favourite TV show, MacGrarrlver. There was this one episode where MacGrarrlver used a pebble and the strand of hair from a Kiko's head to start his car. This was my chance so I wrapped the paperclip in the gum wrapper and picked the lock to the door. Then, before the Mynci's could grab me, I threw my concoction towards Spenk's cage. I squeezed my eyes shut, hoping and hoping that my plan would work. Suddenly a Mynci swiped at my face knocking me to the floor. Then as it raised its ice sword to deal me a fatal blow a miracle happened--Spenk had unlocked his cage and the other cages, letting all the so-called bad pets out... Author : aj61

..."Hooray! Hooray!" all sorts of little voices rang out. Suddenly I was bowled over by a large something. Spenk! I hugged him and tried to catch my breath at the same time. Come on! let's get out of here! I yelled into the noisy room. "Not so fast." It was the evil TV announcer! I stood, ready to defend Spenk, when he said...."Congratulations! The procedure was a success!" What? "What are you talking about?" I asked. "Why, your problem pet of course! We have successfully cured your relationship! He is no longer a problem pet to you! Now, just walk through these doors and our friendly receptionist will give you the bill..." He was right! I realized that I did not mind Spenk's bad behaviour anymore! ...Phew! For a second I thought that something really bad had just happened these past couple of days! I guess I was wrong and stupid to think so. I walked nervously to the receptionist and thought, is this going to be a "wipe out your entire life savings" type of bill, or a " no sweat" type...I wasn't sure. The receptionist smiled and said, "Could you and Spenk pose for a picture?" Sure," I said, "why not?" CLICK! The picture was taken. "Thank you and come again," the receptionist said. "What?," I choked, "the...bill?" "You paid already," she winked and paused, "with a smile!" "That's all we want, a smile for your pet to show that you love them!" I had tears in my eyes and thanked her for teaching me such a valuable lesson. On the way home Spenk never left my sight and clung onto my back while giving me the biggest of bear hugs. We were both tired when we arrived home so we reclined in a chair and flicked on the television. Spenk sat on my lap and kept me warm. "Do you have a pet?" the TV questioned, "Is it so attached to you that it never leaves your sight?" It went on. "If so, then join us on, Pets Behaving TOO Perfectly!" I looked at Spenk and he looked at me and grins spread across both our faces. So like I said at the beginning of this story... Author : angelprincess000

...I had a "problem pet" and I'm still proud. Spenk and I are the best of friends. Sure, he has been trouble in the beginning, but we've grown to love each other. He still causes a little trouble, but not too much. I am still a little shaky the next time a TV advertisement comes on about changing your pets. What I have learned is that our friendship could have changed for the worse...I could have lost him. I still love him, even when he's bad. He's no longer known as my "problem pet," but as my one and only "most improved pet in friendship." We were interviewed by a kind reporter and had a write up in the Neopian Times. But all that fancy stuff doesn't matter. The thing that does is that Spenk and I are together now, and will always be best friends.
