Hissi Day Special!

An Adventurous Hissi
by a_ramsell

She slithered silently through the grass,
Gliding effortlessly, silently.
The Hissi was in search of an adventure,
And she was off to find one, finally!

She passed the Island Market,
Not sparing it a glance.
Those trying to sell her their wares
Never stood a chance.

She pressed on, past the Trading Post,
Her glinting eyes already on her goal.
The Lost City of Geraptiku;
That's where she was going to go.

She entered the lost city,
Passing under the faded sign,
And heading directly to the Deserted Tomb,
Unafraid of what she might find.

She shoved open the stone door,
And glided bravely inside.
She could faintly make out a path
If she really, really tried.

She cautiously followed the pathway,
Careful not to make a sound.
Were those skeletons she saw,
Scattered on the ground?

Onward the Hissi pressed,
Anxious to reach her goal.
She started feeling shaky
And struggled for control.

The corridor suddenly opened
Into a cavernous chamber.
As the Hissi looked around,
Her disappointment had never been greater.

The room was completely empty,
No treasure to be found.
She heaved a sigh and turned away,
Her sadness quite profound.

She left the tomb and headed for home,
Disappointed about the treasure.
But wait! She could just come back tomorrow
And have another adventure!

A Warning to Kastraliss, Fabled Hissi of Bogshot
by miraday

The mangroves quiver in the mist,
The slush of mud we never missed.
The bog knows you once again.

You were gone for good, we thought.
The dark magic cleared over Bogshot
And only the stories of you remained.

Toxic serpent beast of our former bog,
Your body rises through the murky fog
Like a nightmare— terrorizing and vague.

You snake your way like metastasis,
Only the brave openly say, “Kastraliss.”
Your name is synonymous with plague.

Your sickly figure emitted its poison fumes,
And bewitched our town with certain doom
As we waited, painfully, for a hero to arrive.

Then, you battled Tor for the bogberries—
Only serving as a pawn to the Darkest Faerie—
A struggle that which the challenger survived.

Then you vanished. Bogshot again thrived,
Us villagers gladly returned to our daily lives.
Your absence became a welcome remedy.

No more hushed whispers about Kastraliss—
No more sightings of the legless colossus.
Into happiness we came from tragedy.

The swamps were reclaimed,
The people were unashamed
Of prospering here in Bogshot
Amidst the damage you wrought.

The sunshine snuck in overhead,
Flora then returned widespread.
Years of rebuilding all for this-
For you to return unmissed.

Your acid purple scales
Have been found here
Along your tail trails.
You return elicits fear.

If you leave us alone,
We shall do the same.
It happened long ago,
But we know your name.

Kastraliss, serpent made of the darkest powers,
We are ready this time for your plotting ways.
You are culpable for Bogshot’s darkest hours—
Servant of death and decay, for that you shall pay.

A Tale for Hissi Day
by aeronea

Have you heard the latest hearsay,
In the busy streets of Sakhmet?
Of a special event, occurring today,
It's a tale that you won't soon forget.

Once a year, or so it goes,
Deep within the desert's heart,
Three Hissi, together juxtaposed,
Meet from places far apart.

The Cloud Hissi arrives first,
And always speaks what's real and true,
While Starry Hissi, whose day's reversed,
Offers a different point of view.

Though they bicker and disagree,
The third Hissi reconciles them,
His scales are quite the sight to see,
Without his presence would be mayhem.

Cloud, Starry, and Eventide,
Each with wisdom unsurpassed,
Meet beyond the desert's wayside,
And celebrate the year that's passed.

When a new day starts with the rising sun,
The Hissi go their separate ways,
But it's clear the celebration is far from done,
As the sunlight sets the sky ablaze.

For the Hissi meet in shared admiration,
Of the ever-changing sky.
Their lesson is to find elation,
In things that might otherwise pass by.

The Notable Hissi
by blink_darkphoenix

Since the Hissis have made their stay,
It's time for us to recognize their wonderful day.
From their keen sense along with smell,
You can be certain they're treating themselves well.

Today, owners may cherish this pet to no end,
By grooming and feeding with injuries to mend.
They can be frightening to most,
Treat them well, and you'll have something to boast.

With a body made to slither and wings able to soar,
You'd expect the notable pet to be recognized more.
Fortunately, even though there's few.
There is a notable reputation among these two.

In the land of Bogshot, residing in marsh,
The environment can be considered to be quite harsh.
Deep within the swamp, a tainted creature lurks near,
It's Kastraliss! The beast that citizens fear.

Spreading a deadly plague to make one sickly,
When one gets infected, it will spread quickly.
Fortunately, the beast is nowhere to be seen,
But do be careful of a statue that's green.

And last but not least is a famous Darigan Hissi,
An Altador Cup player that is constantly busy.
Layton Vickles hails from Darigan Citadel,
Training to clean the competition, especially Meridell.

Slithering with tremendous speed and grace,
He aims to earn his team first place.
For when he swiftly shoots and scored,
There's not one game where it'll be a bore.

There may be many more lurking out,
But do be sure to give them a shout.
It's not usual for Hissis to get frequent praise.
So be sure to appreciate them during these few days.

Inferno, the Fire Hissi
by anjie

Serpentine, the Hissi weaves,
In tones of onyx black.
Vivid are the fleeting flames,
That trail down its back.
Like a river born of flame,
Through wooded realm he slides.
Like a spirit on the wind,
Inferno on his sides.

No sound the weaving creature makes,
Yet flame tones flicker, lift.
Peaks entwine the serpent’s form,
With every coil’s shift.
The endless pattern of his form,
Ebony, in shade.
Like the midnight, darkest night,
Then to the light shall fade.

Flames alight with golden hue,
Do burn so ever bright.
Casting Hissi as he moves,
In gleam of brilliant light.
Vibrant crimson, burning red,
And tangerine and gold.
On the form of Hissi’s shape,
Inferno doth unfold.

So like a river born of flame,
In darkness will he dance.
And endless sliver lights the dark,
If on him, you should chance.
Blazing colours, now he slows,
Each coil wrapping tight.
On leafy bough to rest at last,
But ever, burning bright

The Hissi's New Friend
by ennyra

The poor little Hissi went slithering away,
Feeling dejected for yet another day.
All the other Neopets always seem so scared,
Why, he'll never know, for being mean he never dared.

Every time he tries to meet another,
They always run back to their mother.
Shaking all over and crying in a cloth,
They look at the Hissi as if he was Sloth.

All the poor Hissi wants to do is play,
Like he sees all the other pets do every day.
He bares a smile and approaches,
Yet they turn and run like he encroaches.

Finally, one day, there was another Hissi.
"Yes!" he thought, this will be perfect for me.
He bounced up to her with a huge smile;
They instantly clicked and played for a while.

Their favorite thing was hide and seek,
They were both great and didn't have to peak.
As the perfect day came to an end,
Both Hissis went home with a new friend.

The Mighty Kastraliss
by niddyz

It’s Hissi Day, so let’s give a hiss
in honor of the great Kastraliss!

Look in his eyes, and see the abyss
of heroes vanquished. But persist
and see nothing but darkness’s
sweet call, but not quite emptiness.

It’s Hissi Day, so let’s give a hiss
in honor of the great Kastraliss!

If you get the gist, think but this:
The thing you missed (perhaps dismissed,
watching his striking tail untwist)
consists of this simple checklist:

His foul breath no one can miss;
spreading decay in Bogshot’s mists;
blocking Sir Tormund’s shopping list;
felled and revived, evil’s pure bliss.

It’s Hissi Day, so let’s always hiss
to honor that Hissi, Kastraliss!

The Hatching of the Hissi
by mewemy

Slithering through the jungle dirt
Singing along to a happy tune
The Springabees sting but it doesn't hurt
This Hissi needs to be home by noon

The jungle is a magnificent place
For a pet with no arms or legs
Speed is important when slithering along
"be home in time the wind begs"

Every Hissi from far and wide
knew of the event at hand
A Hissi egg was soon to hatch
in the depths of the warm summer sand

Darigan, pastel, eventide, what else?
What was to become of the egg?
This, of course, is a secret knowledge
a deep hidden mystery in itself.

So join us for this Hissi day
to watch this new egg hatch
Nothing could bring greater joy
Then being able to witness this marvel at last.

The Hissi, Specter of the Tomb
by _brainchild_

A tomb, deserted, rests within
Geraptiku. Its beast
Shall guard it with an evil grin---
Retreat, to say the least.
The Hissi, spectral, haunts the tomb,
Expelling visitors.
Pure fright is certain to consume
Unlucky ones, for sure.

The pets so foolish and naive
Appear in search of loot.
Yet zero treasure is conceived---
Instead, they find a brute.
His roar so sharp is sure to pierce
Their eardrums. Every soul
Shall cower to the oh so fierce
Behemoth, such a troll.

No avatar is anywhere,
Nor codestones. Faeries, too,
Elude the clammy rooms, so bare.
The Neopets feel blue.
Just then, the Hissi oh so grim
Appears and gives a roar.
Escape is far away. So slim
Are odds of searching more.
