Petpet Name: Angel
Owner: rickymok
Pet: Autumnbringer
Breed: Blibble

About Angel:

Autumnbringer lived alone
But not precisely on her own.
The best way to make sense of that
Is to explain she kept a blibble.
That is, she kept him warm and fed,
But he kept her, it should be said,
From-well, from going off her head
With loneliness and lovelessness.
He was such a bore, I must confess,
No pretty ways, no clever tricks,
Called Angel, But wait. Each night at six,
When Autumnbringer took her tot
Of milk, she'd offer him a shot:
"Come on, little Angel, try a sip,
Simply for the companionship."
But no, he wouldn't turn a hair,
He'd just pretend she wasn't there;
Most disappointing. Ah, but then
There came a gloomy evening when
The streets were dark and deep in snow,
Autumnbringer poured her milk and said,
"Well, Angel, would you like a shot?"
And clearly heard him say, "Why not?"
So then they settled down to chat
Of school, friends, neighbours, all that,
Of all the time they'd spent together
And faced their share of stormy weather,
How Angel was once stuck in a tree,
And Autumnbringer got him free,
The time she fell and hit her head,
And Angel yowled fit to wake the dead
Until the upstairs tenant's friend
Heard him- which saved the silly girl's life.
The time went by. I rather think
They must have had another drink
And Angel thereupon
Put some of his favourite records on,
And said to Autumnbringer, "Shall we dance?"
And with fantastic gracefulness
The pair of them moved to and fro
Across that little sitting room.
The hour of midnight came at last,
The time of faerieland was past;
Autumnbringer sank into her chair,
And some hours later woke up there
Feeling distinctly worse for wear.
What she remembered of last night
Seemed crazy in the morning light:
A dream, she thought- she knew it was
As soon as Angel showed, because
When she called out, "Hallo, my dear,"
He hardly found it worth a sneer;
He didn't even turn a hair,
Pretended she just wasn't there.
Well, so it goes, she thought, that's that;
Of course, he's no more than a blibble.

That morning, following routine,
I came in to clean,
And, as I always did, picked up
Autumnbringer's coffee-cup,
Her empty glass- but half a minute,
There was a second glass, and in it
A dozen strands of shiny pink hair.
"Well I declare!
That's something to be wondered at!
No one comes here; there's just the blibble."
