I pilot a pirate ship.

I know what you're thinking. "How does a petpet of her size get to drive a pirate ship? She's just a little Kepru, she's not even from Krawk Island?!" Well, perhaps I should explain before you really freak out.

It all started one day when I was digging up dubloons in the sand under Coltzan's shrine. The sun was beating down and my collar was heavy around my neck, but I toiled away all the same, trying to move with the sun so the shrine would cast a shadow down upon me. It was tough work, and rare to find even a single dubloon, but a petpet without a pet doesn't really have many options. Suddenly, a loud voice shouted from behind me, a loud and harsh, yet still female voice.

"Hello thar, ye wee cute thin'! Would ye like t' come wi' me on an adventure?"

Turning, I found before me the oddest pet I had ever seen. She was wearing pirate's clothing, but I could tell she wasn't painted pirate because her fur was a pleasant lilac color and on top of all her rough clothing, she proudly displayed a royal crown and necklace. Needless to say, I was shocked. The best I could do was flounder in the sand and manage to sputter out, "Um, what, an adventure? Me?"

"Aye, a grand adventure! We`re goin' t' go catch us up some citrus fruits an' toss em in th' ocean. Eventually th' sea water will taste like Lime Elixir an' Sour Lemon Slushie. So be ye in?"

"Lemon... lime... I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand."

"You dasn't need t' be understandin' a thin'! Can ye steer a ship?"

All there was for miles around me was sand. Sand, sand, and more sand. I hadn't seen a ship in my whole life, yet the lupess seemed dead serious. "Well, no," I admitted, hoping she's leave me alone so I could go back to digging dubloons, yet at the same time, strangely interested in what she was doing here.

"Perfect! Ye new name be Precious. Now off we go! Hoist th` anchor, Precious! Iceburg, starboard ahead! Full speed!" Then she turned around, pointed at the horizon, and began marching away. For a moment, I froze, unable to comprehend what was going on. She wanted me to come with her? And she had given me a name? I hadn't ever had a name before or a pet to take care of me either. Then a faint stirring came from within me. I was sick of digging dubloons for no money, sick of the sand, tired of being alone. And while this lupess seemed to be a bit crazy, it was crazy in a harmless way. With that decided, I dashed to catch up with her.

Three weeks later we had reached the coast where a pirate ship was waiting to pick us up and I, the lonely Kepru from the Lost Desert, got to steer. Sure, I wasn't so great at it at first, but Lilllihana, my crazy pirate lupe queen, is teaching me. Soon I'm sure I will be one of the best pirate ship operators in all of Neopia!
