Is told in a format unconventional,
But all stories needn’t be told in prose:
So here are five times one hundred
Words of poetry, telling a pretty tale
Of a Faerie Peo named Galene
And Poseidyn, the Royal Peophin,
And how their friendship comes to be.

Far, far beyond the sounding waves
Of Krawk Island’s wind-blown shore,
Below the frothing white and foamy crests,
Maraqua’s glittering landscape lies
In vivid tints of coral and shell,
A bright illusion amidst the shifting tides.

A little east of the Maraquan Petpets shop
Is a little undersea grove
Thick with strands of seaweed and of kelp.
Its shadows are inhabited by
Petpets of the Peo kind:
Delicate, refined, and a little vain,
They drift and preen amidst the bubbly shades
And whisper of sea-glass and of pearls.

Yet there is one Peo who looks beyond
The serene gloom of that undersea grove,
Beyond the sea-glass and the pearls:
Galene is her name, and her thoughts
Turn to distant shores;
She longs to join the wide blue waves
As they journey from beach to beach,
To follow the currents, to catch
The tempest’s wild gale, and dance
Amid waters sweeping and wild --
But the kelp-grove around her lies quiet and serene,
And those around her whisper only
Of sea-glass and of pearls.

She is delicate in the way
Only undersea creatures can be --
All translucence and fragility,
With fins finer than a faerie wing,
And a dainty little crest
Softer than a Baby Uni’s mane,
With eyes as changeful as the foaming sea,
And a motion as soft, and thrice as quick
As flowing seaweed in a gale --
With a flick of her slender tail,
She disappears in a burst of small bubbles.

One day amid the mingling glooms
Of the peaceful Peo grove
A Peophin will roll in like a storm,
A Peophin regal, clad in a fur-trimmed cloak,
A Peophin on a quest to find
A small companion of the Peo sort
For voyages to un-travelled shores.

And Galene will lift her refined little head,
And spread her translucent fins, and glide,
All grace and elegance, towards that Peophin Royal,
And swim around him excitedly
In a swirl of bubbles --
“I’ll come with you, please take me,”
She’ll sign, with a nod of her head and
A hopeful look in her soft eyes,
“I’ll follow you out of this dark grove,
Up to where the slanting sun-beams play,
To where the sea-waves crest and curl,
And sky-swimmers fly in the breezy air.”
For long has she dreamt of seeing the summer sky,
And clouds of gold in the vast blue.

And together they will go, and leave behind
The serene shadowy grove, and rise, and surface
Upon the billowing waves, and ride the currents,
And visit those untravelled shores --
Misty Shenkuu, or Altador’s steep coast,
Or Lutari Island’s mournful fogs,
Or the wild dark banks of the Haunted Woods,
And perhaps swim up the Rainbow Fountain’s
Many-hued stream, and rest
In Faerieland’s fleecy clouds.
