 Pet Name: Paarlei Owner: lachtaube Breed: Eyrie About Paarlei: Well, hello there! Please allow me to introduce myself. I go by the name of Paarlei. I am the oldest and, of course, therefore the wisest in my entire family. I have an interesting past, if I may say so… apart from having been the, er, family 'Lab Rat' for several years, if you will. No matter, though. I am back to my true and rightful form as a Pira—uh, I mean, er, um… 'Royal' Eyrie. He tries to smile as he nervously plays with his fingers… Oh, alright, I wasn't always like this! I was born into piracy. You see, I didn't have a choice! I grew up learning how to steal, what to steal, and how much to take so it would go unnoticed until I had a very generous head start's run! I do admit, I am ashamed of my past. But that is all behind me now. Now I am a rather generous noble, if I may say so. I also take on many responsibilities such as battling. Haha, didn't think I liked to get my feathers dirty, hmm? Well, I have trained for years upon years at the Mystery Island Training School! Haha, I'm far too advanced for that old Swashbuckling Academy… though I did cherish my days, training under the wing of Cap'n Threelegs himself. Not all pirates are bad, you know. Threelegs is a very accomplished master of defence and agility, and I respect him greatly. But Ryshuu is my master now. It won't be long before I move on to the Secret Training grounds, though… Er, if I could ever find them. …Why are you still here? What more do you want me to say? Well, I suppose I never explained why I left piracy… alright, sit down, sit down. When I was just a lad, I took the step up from being a simple street rat to joining my very first—and last—pirate crew. It didn't last long. We had some successful raids off the coast of Krawk Island, but then something happened… We were sailing north toward Tyrannia. We hadn't seen it until it was too late: a giant whirlpool in the middle of the northern seas. Needless to say, the vortex swallowed the ship whole. Some crewmembers and I washed up on an uncharted island, just to the west of the whirlpool. We had no food and no currency, so we did what we did best: we stole. We stole from the Native Neopets on that island, ever so foolishly. Because, while we were quick on our feet, it was, naturally, only an island. Their island. They knew every nook and cranny of that rock. And without a ship we were easily caught running through the trees. We were locked up with no food nor water for several days. And just when we thought we were being brought outside for our final punishment—they unlocked the chains. They unbound our bindings. They let us go. They told us we had been punished enough to have to live the lives of pirates. They even invited us to stay with them, so long as we no longer stole from them. I bid my fellow crewmates and the Islanders farewell that day. The shame and guilt were too great for me to accept their generous hospitality. So I left. …As I said, I'm not proud of my past. Thankfully I was given the chance to make a future for myself.
