Guide to Bottled Faeries

by jellikescherrypie

--------

So you've released a bottled faerie… now what? It's not uncommon stumble upon a bottled faerie while strolling through the various regions of Neopia. Yes, these trapped faeries can be found all throughout the globe! From the depths of Maraqua, to buried underneath Terror Mountain's snow, and even near the trunk of the Money tree; these winged creatures beckon Neopets of all species to release them. And why not? Faeries, more often than not, grant blessings to the generous Neopets whom free them!

Although, the act of releasing bottled faeries is often overlooked by the majority of Neopia. Most Neopets hoard these faeries, thus leaving them encased in their glass prison for eternity. They are often found in galleries, shops, and are often given away in the battledome as prizes or trinkets. Selling for less than 100NP a piece in the marketplace, it is no surprise these magical beings are being regarded as a cheap trinket.

We were lucky to speak to Fyora, the queen of Faerieland, whom we caught in the Hidden Tower early last morning:

"It is a shame," she stated while dusting off the battle dung displayed on the shelves, "that a handful of Faerieland's citizens find themselves trapped in such a predicament. I've been working alongside the various leaders of Neopia in order to regain control of the situation. However, after the fall of Faerieland and the recent wraith attack, the faeries have had quite a wide range of misfortunes and it has been difficult to find solution to such a problem. While most of Faerieland's citizens are busy reconstructing their livelihood, the issue proceeds, but there is hardly any free time to construct a solution."

After departing the Hidden Tower (and the stench of the battle dung merchandise) we proceeded to the other half of the globe to hear an opposing opinion regarding bottled faeries. On Mystery Island, we reached out to natives to hear their opinions regarding the faeries. The Tiki Tack Tombola employee was more than happy to share his thoughts:

"This notion is surprising," he mumbled while removing tickets ending in 0, 2, or a 5 from the wheel in order to ensure fewer winners, "I've been giving out bottled faeries for years and no one seems to have an issue with it here on Mystery Island! In fact, they're one of the most popular prizes aside from the codestones… but perhaps if it is an issue, I could always remove them as a prize and double up on items such as Tombola keyrings and woo woo grubs."

You may be happy to hear that shortly after our interview, the Tiki Tack Tombola employee freed a few of the bottle faeries he had! To make up for lost inventory, he proceeded to fill the empty bottles with various colors of sand in hopes of giving those away as prizes. Whether or not he'll get more bottle faeries in stock is unclear. Whether or not bottled sand is a good prize is quite clear: no, it is an awful prize.

Perhaps you're wondering, "Okay…? So what's in it for me? What should I do with a bottled faerie if I have one?" Well, in short, the outcome is truly up to you! To help, I've added a quick guide regarding the different types of bottled faeries and mentioned the pros and cons to each one in hopes it could affect your opinion.

     Weak/Fading Bottled Air Faeries

Air faeries are generous, humble, but often very shy. Their existence brings Neopets great joy and they can often be found lounging on rouge clouds despite Faerieland's new location on land. A famous air faerie includes Psellia. Psellia was invited to be a protector of Altador, bearing the constellation "The Dreamer" after rescuing a blumaroo from danger.

Reasons why you should you release: Air faeries are quite generous and will bless your Neopet with some air magic that you can redeem for abilities in the battledome. Weak bottled air faeries sell for roughly less than 50NP in the marketplace.

Reasons why you should you shouldn't release: Fading bottled air faeries sell for a little bit more, roughly less than 1,000NP each.

     Weak/Fading Bottled Fire Faeries

Fire faeries are spunky and have a little bit of an attitude, but they are always happy to grant Neopets with fire blessings! You shouldn't keep great talent contained; Ember, a Fire Faerie was, a previous Gormball Champion!

Reasons why you should you release: Fire faeries are quite generous and will bless your Neopet with some fire magic that you can redeem for abilities in the battledome. Weak bottled fire faeries sell for roughly less than 100NP in the marketplace.

Reasons why you should you shouldn't release: Fading bottled fire faeries sell for a little bit more, roughly less than 1,000NP each.

     Weak/Fading Bottled Light Faeries

Light faeries are very intelligent and are often sweet and generous. They LOVE to play games and spin the Wheel of Excitement!

Reasons why you should you release: Light faeries are quite generous and will bless your Neopet with some light magic that you can redeem for abilities in the battledome.

Reasons why you should you shouldn't release: Fading bottled light faeries sell roughly 1,000NP each in the marketplace. While weak bottled light faeries are (currently) the most expensive weak bottled faeries; they sell for roughly 300NP each.

     Bottled Critters

Ummmm….. what is this? Please do not release these! They should have never made this list!

Reasons why you should you release: None.

Reasons why you should you shouldn't release: EVERYTHING.

     Weak/Fading Bottled Water Faeries

Splish-splash! Bottled water faeries are one of the most common bottled faeries! They're bottles contain a small volume of water for the faerie to swim around. In Faerieland, water faeries maintain the Healing Springs and the Rainbow Fountain!

Reasons why you should you release: Water faeries are quite generous and will bless your Neopet with some water magic that you can redeem for abilities in the battledome. Weak bottled water faeries sell for roughly less than 100NP in the marketplace. In addition, water faeries need to swim in order to survive; releasing them guarantees that they'll be able to find a large water source.

Reasons why you should you shouldn't release: Fading bottled water faeries sell for a little bit more than weak ones; they retail for roughly less than 1,000NP each.

     Weak/Fading Bottled Dark Faeries

Dark faeries have been running amuck all around Neopia for ages, but that doesn't mean they should be captured… does it? In fact, there's dozens of kind dark faeries in Neopia!

Reasons why you should you release: Dark faeries, despite their cruel persona, will generously bless your Neopet with some dark magic that you can redeem for abilities in the battledome. Weak bottled dark faeries sell for roughly less than 70NP in the marketplace.

Reasons why you should you shouldn't release: Fading bottled dark faeries sell for a little bit more than weak ones; they retail for roughly less than 1,000NP each. Also… do we need any more dark faeries free in Neopia?

     Weak/Fading Bottled Earth Faeries

Earth faeries can be found all over Neopia, not just Faerieland! They're very gentle, kind, and love to get down and dirty! In fact, lllusen is an earth faerie! Wouldn't it be a shame if she were locked away in a bottle?

Reasons why you should you release: Earth faeries will quite generously bless your Neopet with some earth magic that you can redeem for abilities in the battledome. Weak bottled earth faeries sell for roughly less than 80NP in the marketplace, so you won't make much of a profit.

Reasons why you should you shouldn't release: Fading bottled earth faeries sell for a little bit more than weak ones; they retail for roughly less than 1,000NP each.

     Unidentifiable Weak Bottled Faerie

Who doesn't love a mystery?! You never know what type of faerie you can find in here. In fact, you may find more than one!

Reasons why you should you release: Faeries will quite generously bless your Neopet with some magic that you can redeem for abilities in the battledome; in fact, you may receive multiple blessings!

Reasons why you should you shouldn't release: Just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. There could be a dark faerie in here! Or worse, some bottled critters… -shudders-
