Book Reviews & Recommendations: Altador Cup Edition

by panda_baby150

--------

Prettyful_me, my Kau, absolutely LOVES reading, so she and I spend a lot of time reading all kinds of books together. Over the years, we have read a LOT of books, so she and I decided to start reviewing them. With the Altador Cup coming up, we thought this would be the perfect time to put together a list of book recommendations about the beautiful land of Altador and the exciting athletic events of the Altador Cup.

First, prettyful_me and I thought we would recommend some guides to help prepare you for your trip to Altador. With so many visitors expected to attend the Cup events, you will want to be prepared for your visit. Whether you need to know the best places to stay, how to get around town, or fun activities to do during your team’s rest days, there is a book for you. Here are some of our recommendations:

     1) Tourists Guide to Altador During the Cup: This is hands down the best guide out there for visiting Altador during the Cup, especially if it’s your first time visiting. It recommends the best restaurants, lodging, and activities without overwhelming you with decision fatigue. You may be tempted to think you can get away with just a quick overview of the Altador Travel Brochure, but that would be a mistake. With thousands of Neopians expected to flock to Altador for the events of the Cup, planning ahead using this guide will make your trip go smoothly. Prettyful_me and I give this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks.

     2) Altador Traffic Guide: While this guide is accurate and thorough, it is ultimately unnecessary. If you are anxious about travelling or if you are particularly nerdy about traffic, this may be a great pick for you. However, the kingdom of Altador has perfected its preparation for the influx of visitors every year. During the Cup, signs are posted everywhere so that it is nearly impossible to get lost. They have also optimized their pathways to minimize traffic jams. Prettyful_me and I give this book 2 out of 5 bookmarks.

     3) Altador at a Glance: Keep an eye out for this delightful publication once you get to Altador. You can pick up a copy almost anywhere including your hotel lobby, a convenience store, or at any bus stop. Inside, you will find weather forecasts, coupons for local eateries, event schedules, and a daily joke. Prettyful_me and I give this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks.

Now that you have a handle on your stay in Altador, you can brush up on the Altador Cup. Whether it’s your first time at the games or you’ve been a fan since the defeat of the Darkest Faerie, there is a book for you. Here are some of our recommendations:

     1) Altador Cup Rule Book: This is the official rulebook of the Altador Cup. Whether you are a diehard fan of the games or brand new to them, this book is a great resource for you. Keep in mind though that this book is very technical, dense, and thorough. If you are looking for a light read, this is not it. If you are trying to win a bet on a technicality, look no further. Prettyful_me and I give this book 4 out of 5 bookmarks.

     2) Techos Guide for Altador Cup Fanatics: You may take a look at the description of this book and think “Is this book just about yelling?” And then you may read the book and realize, yes it is. But hear us out – yelling is fun! Cheering for your team is one of the best parts of the Altador Cup and you should make sure you’ve got the technique down. Prettyful_me and I give this book 4 out of 5 bookmarks.

     3) The Legendary Sport of Yooyuball: The Legendary Sport of Yooyuball dives deep into the sport, from the origins when the children of Altador started playing with wild Yooyus just outside the city to the first official rules set by Narinus the Athletic over a thousand years ago to the Altador Cup as we know it today. This is an excellent and fascinating read for any Yooyuball fan. Prettyful_me and I give this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks.

     4) Altador Altador Cup Media Book: If you ever wanted to learn everything there is to know about your favourite team, this is the book series for you. This particular book is about the Altador team, but there is a book for every Altador Cup team. You can learn about your team’s stats, player biographies, insights into the team dynamics, and much more. This is a great way to connect with your team so you can head into the stadium with knowledge and enthusiasm for your team. Get ready to Make Some Noise! Prettyful_me and I give this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks.

Finally, you may be interested in some sightseeing when you’re not busy watching the Cup. Altador has a rich history and there are plenty of books you can read to learn about it. Here are some of our recommendations:

     1) Altadorian Defences: Have you ever wondered about the walls surrounding Altador? Many people notice this unique feature of Altador, but few realize the history behind it. This book explains the fascinating engineering challenges that were overcome during the construction of these walls, as well as the original purpose of the walls and the role the walls play in the kingdom today. Prettyful_me and I give this book 4 out of 5 bookmarks.

     2) Altadorian Archives: This is a book about a building full of books! What could be better for a book lover? The Archives contain thousands of books and scrolls, some strangely unwelcoming clubs (except Astronomy Club, which is super fun!), and an eccentric archivist. Prettyful_me and I give this book 4.5 out of 5 bookmarks.

So, if you love Altador and the Altador Cup, check out some of the books we have recommended. We hope this list comes in handy for you! Go teams!
