Pet Name: Melazzi
Breed: Pink Ona

About Sakura:
The day I had been waiting for my entire life had finally arrived: today, I was set to take over the family touring agency. After years of hard work to prove to the family that I was fully capable of running the family business successfully, my father was finally allowing me to take over. But in a cruel twist, he had stipulated one final test or, as he put it, condition: find a worthy Petpet to be my messenger.

And that final tiny condition threw all my hopes into a loop. Finding a Petpet is simple enough. Finding one that will make a good messenger is whole different story.

That was how I found myself wandering around the Shenkuu marketplace, going from stall to stall to look at the Petpets available. However, none appealed to me. They were either too lazy or too excited, too noisy or too quiet, too friendly or not friendly enough. In any event, none fit the bill.

Returning home without having found a single Petpet, I noticed a pink blob in the cherry blossom tree in our garden. The pink blob was a tiny Ona who seemed to be having a fun time playing with the blossoms. Deciding to observe the little thing as it played, I sat under a nearby tree and played with its fallen blossoms.

Suddenly, a strong gust of wind swept by, knocking the small Ona into the nearby river. The tiny thing tried to get out of the water, but its wings were wet and it couldn't fly out. That was when I rushed into the water and got the Petpet out.

Little did I know that after getting us both out of the water and indoors, I'd be on my way to having that worthy messenger Petpet. After drying out, the rescued Ona refused to leave my side, flitting from room to room after me. The small thing was so scared of going out that it would huddle in the sleeves of my kimono the second I turned toward the door.

However, the cherry blossom trees still held my new companion's interest, and the Ona would play with their petals and even bring them to me to play with. That is why I named the small thing Sakura, in honour of the cherry blossoms it so adored.

Sakura was originally supposed to just stay with me until she got over her fear of being outside. Over time, we both got attached to each other, and one day I found Sakura flying toward me with a package dangling in her paws. Her excited gurgling and her pulling of my sleeves and paws pointing toward the front of the house, had me following her to the front parlour of the house.

In the entry way stood my father, who beamed at me and pronounced me and my companion ready to handle and build upon the family empire together.

And that, my friends, is how Sakura became the best companion a merchant could ever want or need.
