...The Draik sighed and followed him inside. After walking through the dusty cave, the two came upon a giant cavern -- and the Beast. The giant winged creature, sleeping soundly, was perched upside down from the roof of the cave, it's head curled upward. It was snoring away.
Betrayn tossed Isamurei a small black orb that looked suspiciously like chewing gum. "You can fly -- I cannot," he hissed at her, his voice a whisper. "I could never get up to the mouth without waking the beast... but you can. Fly up and wait for my signal, then drop the orb in its mouth."
Isamurei nodded affirmatively. She wasn't entirely sure what it would accomplish, but she (for some reason) trusted this mysterious stranger during the rest of her adventure -- she saw no need to stop now.
She flew up and hovered by the mouth of the Beast, which was closed. Of course it would be, why would it sleep with its mouth open? She realized she had to wait for Betrayn to fulfil his part.
Meanwhile, the Blumaroo tossed a throwing star into the Beast's side.
It sprang to life in a shriek, and started to gnash its teeth toward the Draik. Isamurei screamed, and flew about to avoid it -- but then she remembered her task, and carefully tossed the orb between its jaws.
She had done it! The Beast started to sputter, choking on the poison. It began to vomit all whom it had eaten, including, finally, Ebo. Isamurei ran over and hugged her best friend dearly. "You're alive!" she shrieked happily as the Beast keeled over.
"A bit shaken, but yes!" he said.
"Let's flee, in case it wakes up again," shouted the mysterious Blumaroo.
Everyone fled the cave. Isamurei realized most of the eaten had been Neopets she had invited to the party... hmm...
"Look," started Ebo when they were safety, "we all wanted to surprise you by bringing a keepsake from the Lair of the Beast to your Tyrannian Victory Party... but it didn't work out really well, heh."
"I'm just glad you're safe," started the host. "That you're all safe!" she said to everyone.
They arrived back at Isamurei's backyard, and Ebo helped her set up the banner. "Perfect!" she said as the two exchanged glances.
Ebo formally introduced Isamurei to Betrayn, as a long-time colleague and longer friend. They all exchanged knowing glances and mischievous smiles. "He's nice," she said to Ebo. "Very protective of you."
Ebo and Betrayn chuckled.
The host walked about her party. The sun beating down was hot, and the guests were happy. And alive, which made them even happier. Isamurei grinned.
It was a better day than she could have imagined.
