Like a siren whistle blows,
The stadium doth hush.
Anticipation quickly builds,
An all-consuming rush.
Crimson traced with molten gold,
The pack that reign supreme.
Skill, will, power, triple threat,
Behold the Shenkuu team.

Mirsha stands in centre field,
Dark eyes shall narrow fast.
Ready to move with the ball,
As it comes flying past.
Foltaggio, to her right.
Slight smirk upon his face.
In the goal fair Xana stands,
Her gloves held firm in place.

Defending for the noble team,
Antola Maeir and Phu.
The Grundo having nerves of steel,
As he makes his debut.
Victory the mutual goal,
The team is standing tall.
Shenkuu's team is full of pride,
The champs of Yooyuball!

An Ode to Layton Vickles

The King of the Pitch,
Without problem or glitch,
Darigan Citadel's own star,
No other player is on par.

Playing with all his soul,
He moves closer to the goal,
Getting his sling ready,
Keeping calm, keeping steady.

The audience is scared,
Vickles prepared,
The Yooyu in sling,
And with one simple swing,

The goalkeeper jumps,
The crowd gets goosebumps,
As the Angry Techo cries,
It is no surprise,
That alas he has scored,
And the crowds, how they roared,
Darigan scores again,
And they continue to reign.

However, they can only hope,
That this year they can cope,
That if Layton plays his best this year,
Again, they will hear the crowds cheer,
Chant, whistle, and scream,
Darigan shall stay supreme,
And everyone knows they will not be stressed,
For they have Vickles who's, quite simply, the best.

Ask the Yooyu

What is it like to be the ball?
Curled up, not standing tall?
Passed around, play by play,
Scored in the goal to win the day?

Ask the Yooyu what he'd say
About being the ball with which we play.

Fire likes the rush of going fast;
Ice goes slow to make it last;
Clockwork likes the thrill of booming;
Faerie likes to curve when zooming;
And mutant loves to cause disarray
By always going the opposite way.

All these Yooyus will say the same:
We're having fun, is what they claim.
Essential to the game are we,
Appreciated because we're key.

Taking joy in what we do --
It's what it means to be a Yooyu.

A Yurble Replaced

A dive to the right, but the Yooyuball goes left,
Yaniq Avaan falls clumsily to the ground.
He glances to the net with a frightful look,
Cheering from fans erupt all around.

The whistle rings, the match comes to an end,
Mystery Island bow out of the league.
Just one goal was all it took,
Plus a Yurble keeper, filled with fatigue.

One year later, and he's been replaced,
Yaniq no longer has a goal to protect.
He sits all alone idly on the bench,
Feeling like nothing but an utter reject.

Volgoth scores, the crowd is elated,
Yaniq can't even manage to smile.
His team won their match, he should be joyful,
He might as well return to his Mystery Isle.

His gloves are left dusty under the bench,
Yaniq is a Yooyuball keeper no more.
His career is over, he's nothing left to do,
Nothing left to protect, nothing to work for.

But wait -- what is this, the slushie stall is empty,
No Tuskaniny waitress in sight.
Queues are piling up left, right, and centre,
Just the thing to keep a goalkeeper alight.

The Ballad of Vonde Cayle

The star from the Lost Desert,
How will he score next?
Come in from the side and shoot,
Leaving the goalie vexed?
Or will he fly in from the front
And curve off last second,
Shoot into the goal with all speed
Before the defence can be beckoned?

You never know what Cayle will do;
He's quite the speedy fellow,
Scoring most of the goals the Desert gets
And the whole time, he remains mellow.
But let's not forget his devotion
To his teammates in gold and blue.
He'll help them out within the fray
And stays with them, through and through.

Yes, Vonde Cayle's a fearsome fighter
When on the Yooyuball field.
And to no team will he lose heart
The victory, he will not yield.
This Wocky's not to be taken lightly
Until victory's in sight, he will fight
And after the game, rest assured
He'll be dealing with the fans tonight!
