A Xweetok Winter

Onyx nose tilts to the air,
It's snow that's on the breeze.
Foretelling colder months to come,
And ice upon the tree.
Delicate, the petite paw,
So raised with gentle grace.
Months ahead, it's time to store,
Against time's hand, she'll race.

Tiny creature scuttles fast,
Along the bending bough.
Worry etched on tiny face,
So furrowed seems her brow.
Silken plume, that tail grand,
Around low branch doth loop.
Others must be quickly warned,
She must alert the group!

Rapid is the quick parade,
That scuttling, hurries 'round.
Fruit and nuts are stored away,
So safe from cooling ground.
As a team the Xweetoks work,
Things pass from paw to paw.
Stored away in hollow tree,
Until the ground doth thaw.

Winter in Neopia

In Neopia snow is falling,
Falling like a bridal veil,
Gently shrouding all it lands on,
Enfolding the whole in Nature's pale

Garbs of winter, mantle spotless,
Cloaking autumn's messy rage
Of leaves and windstorms, muddy fields
Covered over, a fresh-turned page

Upon which for now naught is writ.
No footprints yet dare to deface
Pristine landscape, clean and empty,
The world now held in cool embrace

Of snow that's falling, falling gently,
Scene like a snowglobe brought into being --
Winter has come to Neopia,
The time of sledding, skating, skiing

Down the slopes of Terror Mountain,
Drinking cups of Borovan,
Celebrating the Day of Giving,
Sitting by a roaring fire and then

Awaiting Spring's call to melt and thaw
The snow now falling, swirling thoughtless,
Of blooms deep sleeping underneath
Winter's blanket, cold and spotless.

A Miserable Time of Year

Alas, the Day of Giving is coming once again,
A truly dismal period, I find.
You disagree? Allow me to explain
My distaste for this monstrous winter time.
I'm not quite filled with jolly holiday cheer;
It's a miserable time of year.

The world may appear cheery, crisp, and white,
But this view of Neopia is corrupt.
Behind every pretty faerie light,
An argument is waiting to erupt,
The war of words comes crashing on your ear --
It's a miserable time of year.

Snowmen? A terrible idea in theory.
Think twice before you defend them with haste.
Pets all around Neopia are hungry,
While carrots used as noses go to waste.
These snow creatures are not that great, I fear.
It's a miserable time of year.

Some now can't go without a tree
But I find that, without, I much prefer.
I don't enjoy traumatising, you see,
My precious pet's Petpet, his little Fir.
Those Christmas trees are such a bad idea.
It's a miserable time of year.

Throughout this month, the Advent Calendar
Gives away things every day for free.
A good thing? Only if you prefer
Strain on an inflated economy.
Financial crisis does not bring me cheer.
It's a miserable time of year.

Presents? Surely they're a positive.
Well, allow me to share what I have learned.
You waste your money on presents to give
And get a sock and mouldy cheese returned.
With presents, disappointment's always near.
It's a miserable time of year.

Don't let me rain too much on your parade.
Go on, be merry and have a good time.
Enjoy your 'happy time of year' facade
(You really have to want that one to rhyme),
But, at least to you, I've been sincere
About this miserable time of year.

The Festive Rink Runner

A giant boom, and falling ice
Splinters off of Terror Mountain.
The freezing water spurts straight up,
Like the magical Rainbow Fountain.
A note echoes off of the sheer cliff faces,
Another one follows in quick succession.
A happy little melody plays off of the snow,
Absolving the inhabitant's winter aggression.
The cracks open wider but still the notes sound,
A holiday tune from the little Rink Runner.
No flats and no sharps can be noticed at all,
The classic little tune is, quite simply, a stunner.
"The chestnuts are roasting," said the little Bruce,
As he glided across the frozen pond with care,
"Jack Frost nips," he sang as the final refrain,
"Happy Holidays to all, in Neopia everywhere."

We should thank the Neopets team
For getting us into the holiday scene!

So if ever it's cold, dull, snowing,
Just remember: there is fun brewing
At the foot of Terror Mountain.
