Summer Has Arrived!
By Pansyparkinson14

The month of Relaxing is upon us all,
and summer has crept up as well;
Neopets are dreading the scorching summer heat,
but the absence of Neoschool is rather swell.

So what to do on a fine summer's day?
It depends on the Neopet you ask,
For each and every one has a different opinion
Of what serves as a nice summer task.

Skeiths prefer to stay indoors,
Devouring Brucicles and icy treats;
They would prefer to stay far, far away
From sports and other strenuous feats.

Pteris instead enjoy the hot summer air,
And are seen flying and zooming away.
For them, a day not racing under the sun,
Is a day quite mournful and grey.

Tuskaninnies of all ages love best
Basking on beaches under hot summer rays,
Suntanning and napping so lazily
Is how they enjoy spending long summer days.

And of course there are activities enjoyed by all,
Such as Yooyuball matches and strolls in the park,
Romping with Petpets is a favourite too,
As is catching fireflies in the waning dark.

Most important, though, is doing enjoyable things,
And having a lot of safe fun,
For these summer months pass much too quickly,
And all too soon summer will be done!

ioK
By _Razcalz_

They spin and roam like
threads on fabric -- wisps like ghosts
and eyes wide, contemplating
the waltz of the seaweed and the
farthest reaches of the pond.

I say ghostlike because
one who looks deep into the Koi's
aqueous home finds not a lucid
glimpse into those depths
but a mingling of a mirror of the
sky and oaks above --
of birds on the wing and
the likeness of falling leaves in
the same direction as the
familiar world above,

And it leaves you to wonder if
the nimble Koi themselves are but
a backwards mirror of
whispering forms -- unseen save for
those who think to look into the
telltale surface of a clear
summer pond.

Moonsong
By Kittengriffin

Running in the river of silver light,
Falling and flying all through the night,
Moonbeams carry us over the hills,
We're all laughing at the thrills.

Can you see the summer sun above?
Golden light waiting to give a shove
To all of us dancing so far below,
All of us stuck in the moon's undertow.

It doesn't matter what race or kind,
All that matters is that the moon does shine,
To take us laughing from our homes
To the plains where the Lupes do roam.

Eyrie, Mynci, Ruki, and Bruce --
None of us care, we all cut loose.
Bori, Hissi, Lutari, Koi --
We don't care if we're the moon's toys.

We'll dance on the plains all night long,
All of us caught in the moon's song.
We're no creatures of the summer sun,
We're all beings that the moon sung.

Softly, gently, listen to the music,
Lightly, lovingly, let it guide your antics,
Nothing matters where sun cannot shine --
Listen and let go of yourself for a time.

When the dawn comes and with it your mind,
Care for the weakened of your kind.
Carry them back to the daylight homes,
And listen, listen for the moon's tones.

The Island
By Trinston

As the ships go and leave,
The tides roll in on the golden sand,
Sun blaring down on the beautiful land,
The trees swaying in the summer breeze.

Full of life, feeling free,
An ever-going hunt for money,
A little something for their honey --
The life will never die out.

One giant ship never to sail again,
Many a pet with an appetite,
Drinks and meals from left to right,
The Golden Dubloon, the giant diner.

We all want to stay,
But alas we have to go.
The ships still going to and fro,
We now leave, Krawk Island, I bid you farewell.

An Aisha's Summer Dream
By Synable

I found my stomach rumbling
As I trudged through barren land.
I was tired of this desert look,
weary from the sand.
As tempting as the sunbeam was,
this Aisha's paws were sore,
And though adventure had its perks,
there was too much to explore.
Maybe the sun had been too hot,
perhaps the light too bright,
But up ahead in the distance
appeared the most peculiar sight.
Could it be real, could it be true?
Is it what they say?
I've been searching for this "jelly land";
have I been lead astray?
Mounds of wiggly blue and green...
was I still in Neopia?
A sign ahead read "Jelly World" --
this had to be utopia!
Oh, to have a tasty nibble,
a delicious jelly treat!
A place to rest those furry paws,
a happy Aisha eat!
I ate until I could no more
and found a place to sleep.
A wiggly jelly bed's no chore;
I didn't make a peep.
I woke up under a shady tree --
was nothing as it seems?
There was no jelly to be found...
was it all a dream?
