A Grey Feast

Grey Day is upon us
not like anyone will care.
Neopets are all about eventide
showing off those colors everywhere.

But for those who try
and say grey is the best
well, then to you we offer
the best of grey as a feast.

There are some Grey Waffles
with no syrup, of course.
And some Grey Doughnutfruit,
which is a Hasee's last choice.

Sorry, but for drinks only
Earl Grey Tea can be had,
and if you need some Grey Toast with it,
go ahead... it's not soggy, just sad.

You want healthy? *sigh* Okay.
Is some Grey Turnips fair?
Unhealthy? We've got that.
Grey Cheesecake, and it has a hint of despair.

Grey Pancakes are available,
though they aren't very filling.
And Grey Eggs and Bacon
isn't very appetizing.

A Grey Sandwich is gloomy,
and a Grey Scorchipepper is tasteless.
A Grey Sub is bland,
and Grey Ice Cream is hopeless.

Grey food is just sad,
but enjoy what you can
from of the most depressing
food in the land.

And getting through it all
isn't worth the feat.
But you'd be grey, too,
if this was all you had to eat.

My Grey Faerie Doll

Rumpled wings sewed on tight,
Sitting limply on her back.
A tattered dress, dull in hue,
Patched with cloths of black.

Beady eyes, a shade of blue,
Beautiful but sad.
Two antennas on her head,
Facing down a tad.

Messy hair hides her face,
Pale and tied up high.
Skin so flawless, lacks a luster
To make it look alive.
 
Such a dreary-looking doll,
Cherished just the same.
Honored on her special day
That’s partly in her name!

Ode To The Grey Uni

Inside this beautiful scene
Among all the neon swirls
Lives a grey Uni
With a a long mane of curls

She sits in the same spot
Day after day
Biding her time
Keeping loneliness at bay

Seeing all this beauty
Makes her meloncholy
There is no room in her world
For frolicking, fun, and folly

Her dreary eyes reflect like a mirror
Her grey horn is aglow
Her tears are like diamonds
Her heart as cold as snow

She completes the scene with sadness
Her large eyes more in tune
We can never see the world this way
Our small minds are too immune

This is only my perception
As I saw her just this morning
For this magical beast lives in a painting
That needs no adorning

What happened to her
I will never know
But remembering her is best
If you're ever feeling low

Baelia The Grey's Escape

Sighing wearily
With clipped wings and lost powers
She sits in a cage.

Darkness faeries taunt,
Malignantly mocking her.
Without hope she waits.

The dawn lights the sky;
The shadows swiftly vanish
Till night falls again.

While waiting for them
To continue their torment
A stranger appears.

She is a Kyrii
Who notices the faerie
Within those cage walls.

The grey faerie speaks
To the Kyrii and tells her
About the evil lock.

“You must say its name
Or else it will not open.”
Perplexed, she ponders

On how to beat it.
Then she starts to play a game
Of questions with it.

Cleverly playing,
On her first guess she names it.
The faerie is free!

Still powerless, though,
They take off to find her
A new set of wings.

I'm So Grey

I've been so very sad today, 
Oh, how my ears droop,
At the Grey Day celebration
I'm the saddest of the group.

My hair is lank and lifeless,
And I couldn't really care,
I look so very pitiful,
The others stop and stare.

My eyes are red from crying,
My lids are heavy too,
I practise every single day
At feeling oh-so-blue.

I'm just an average grey Moehog
Most times of the year,
But as today is Grey Day
I'm happier than I appear.

For all the 'pets are miserable,
And still I stand right out
As the saddest little Neopet
From my tail to my snout.

I'll win the prize with ease this year,
A trophy that shall say --
"Congratulations on being so sad,
On Year 14 Grey Day!"

Sad Grey Tonu

The grey Tonu, heavy and sad
Walks through the world
Too worn out to be mad
With all of his focus inwardly curled.

This monolithic beast
Is worn out and pale.
His skin thick and creased,
And the color of shale.

This Tonu has no color, no hue,
For all of his cheer has gone and fled
No violet or yellow, no green or blue,
With drabness and grey left in their stead.

Of gaiety and surprise
The grey Tonu disapproves
And so, with sighs,
This poor creature moves.

He is sad, he is grey,
He is tired and weary.
Even today, on Grey Day,
This creature is teary.

The Grey Faerie

Thunderclouds over the mountaintop,
Illuminating the iron cage.
Inside is locked a faerie
Quieter than a sage.

Grey hair and grey wings,
Fallen on the floor;
No dazzling light nor sparkles --
Simple, nothing more.

Weeks upon weeks,
Days upon days,
Captured by the shadows --
A prisoner betrayed.

The only way to let her out
Is through the magic lock.
It keeps hold on the iron bars
And holds time like a clock.

Who can rescue her,
This anonymous faerie?
What is her name?
Will she ever be merry?

The Grey Fuzzle

I’m evil, can’t you sense it?
I’m as bad as bad can be.
But something’s happening today
My crazy mind did not foresee.

I want to chomp on mighty shuttles,
Claw them right out of the skies.
But a gloom hinders my progress
As soppy tears fall from my eyes.

My fur has lost its color,
It’s dull and looking dank.
This grey despair consumes me --
For this who do I have to thank?

I don’t know what has caused this,
Why gloom is everywhere...
But my wickedness will continue;
I’ll maintain my evil stare!

I am an Evil Fuzzle,
And although I may be grey,
I will continue to attack spaceships -- 
Regardless of this Grey Day!

The Curious Case Of Grey

I took a stroll around the block,
What wonders did I see?
I saw fifty moping faces
Frowning back at me.

Their eyes were droopy and puffy,
Their faces set in a pout.
They looked kind of like balloons
With most of the air sucked out.

I saw a poor old Gelert
Who wore a sad old face.
And also two sorrowful Myncies
Who seemed quite out of place.

I saw downbeat Koi, and cheerless Draiks,
And a pitiful gloomy Buzz.
I noticed a queer heavyhearted expression,
In each Neopet’s face that there was.

Each corner I turned brought more glum faces,
The outlook seemed hopeless, in a way.
For every last Neopet that I did see
Was low-spirited, melancholy, and grey!

With that last thought I came to my senses,
I rushed to my home straight away.
I checked my calendar, and sure enough,
It was April 14, Grey Day!

It Won't Be Grey Every Day

The world’s a lightless place today,
The sun can’t bear to shine.
No one has come out to play,
They sit all alone and whine.

Neopia is dull and bleak,
An unforgiving place.
No one opens mouth or beak,
They just sigh and hide their face.

Something mournful is in the air,
Though who can say quite what.
No one can bring themselves to care,
If they were happy, the time’s forgot.

In Faerieland the brightest wings
Are hanging limp, or loosely folded.
No one dares laugh at the carnival
For fear of getting scolded.

The crystal shores of Mystery Isle,
Are empty; all stay at home.
No one can consider getting tanned
On a day so monochrome.

But take some heart, Neopians,
And all of you who sorrow.
Today is Grey Day, sure enough,
But it will brighten up tomorrow.
