NIMMO DAY SPECIAL

The Sinister Nimmo
By Panril

Deep in the derelict, deserted fairground
Of one horrendous, haunted wood
Dwells Sidney the scratchcard salesman
A miser, misunderstood.

Nimmos will devote their life to learning -
To smarts and those bewildering books.
But Sidney the scratchcard salesman
Is not simply a crooked crook.

He may not be a martial master
World-weary and wonderfully wise.
He may not examine text-filled tomes
Or study without reprise.

But vast, impressive intellect
Lies just behind that ghastly grin.
He rigs the clever, crumpled cards
And assures you'll never win.

Sidney hoards his preciousss prizes
In his drafty, dusty kiosk.
Once a treacherous ticket is purchased
Neopoints and treasure, lost.

Deep in the derelict, deserted fairground,
Sidney plays his tricky tricks.
Should you see his spooky stall,
Off you run with canter, quick!

A Nimmo Under a Tree
By Hkreadalot

I saw a happy Nimmo
At least, happier than me,
He was sitting, legs crossed, tongue out
Beneath a shady tree.
When I quietly inquired
What would his purpose be?
He smiled the Nimmo's smile
And chuckled quietly.

With sudden realization
I gave a quiet "Oh!"
So that was where my faithful pets
Had had reason to go!
I really was quite silly
To not already know:
Today was that day when we all
Celebrated the Nimmo.

I turned and looked around me,
And saw that it was true.
There were Nimmos everywhere
And lots of things to do.
I turned to the happy Nimmo
Who had made my world brand new,
And I gave him first a smile
Then a heartfelt "Sir, thank you."

The Book Store Nimmo Ode
By Melina719

Behold! I here have many shelves,
Where each book rests its unique spine,
Makes a bed for the dancing dust,
And sits here in a tidy line.

Have I so much in store for you-
Much adventure to ride your mind
Of gallant steeds and noble queens-
Much suspense and action to find.

Here I keep intrigue barred on the pages,
Ready for your eyes to sweep gone.
Read a lament of the raging sea,
A striking poem of breaking dawn.

Find some information on your kind;
Read a chapter -- maybe one or two!
Come and search these winding aisles-
There must be something here for you.

Catch the latest news on Sloth,
Maybe where to find a faerie.
Here you can learn anything,
So please, do not be weary!

Let the youngsters learn their ABCs,
The girls read of the latest looks,
The boys of the next space race-
It's all here in these books.

I know all literature as treasure;
Each book is a different friend.
So come, my eager reader, come-
Devour all books to their end!

And when it's time to close this place,
And let the reading lamps find sleep,
Remember the pages, the wings your fingers
Soared upon and moments may you keep!

The Travels of a Nimmo
By Mithril_mithrandir

Oh, I may be dressed in tatters,
My pack has naught but air,
I might be small and poor and sad,
But I've been everywhere.

I've traveled all across the world,
From mounts high as high can be
All the way to darkest depths:
The blue-violet of deep sea.

I've wandered every pathway,
Every current fish might fin,
I've walked down every dusty road -
And here is where I've been:

I've climbed up high to Shenkuu,
That land of rock and mist,
Seen houses tilt precariously,
Seen merchants take a risk.

Then I jumped across a gap,
Landed on Terror Mountain cold,
Where snowflakes fall and snowballs fly,
And Snowager guards his gold.

Down a slide to Tyrannia,
Where omelettes rule supreme,
And where I, a dusty Nimmo,
Cannot seek out a stream.

A little rest in Maraqua,
Enjoying waters cool,
Waving kelp around me,
Under Kelpbeard's rule.

Onward to Mystery Island,
Jungle, heat, and waves,
Coconuts and thatch-roof huts,
Views as the red sun fades.

Krawk Island next: of scalawags,
Those conniving, scheming thieves,
Pirates! Looters! Stolen goods!
Treasures sure to please.

Faerieland, where Fyora is,
The floating world on clouds,
Magic fizzing everywhere,
And purple is the ground.

Lost Desert: yet another stop,
Sand, sand everywhere.
Ruins, shrines, fruit machines,
Glints of gold so rare.

Across a chain of mountains
Altador, the lost city,
Sleeping deep for a thousand years,
And today it's now quite busy!

The Haunted Woods, how spooky!
Filled with creeps and frights,
Mutants, slimy, scary things,
And the Werelupe's howl at night.

Lutari Island, thick with mist,
Mysterious indeed,
Then off to Kiko Lake,
Land of the Kikos free.

Roo Island, oh how fun!
Such cheerful Blumaroos!
I'm afraid I stood out a bit,
As all red Nimmos do.

Virtupets and Kreludor,
High up in black of space,
No oxygen or gravity,
What an odd and bouncy place.

Meridell and Brightvale,
Their sovereigns are Skeiths,
A medieval land to frolic in,
Complete with farms and beets!

But wandering right on back,
Where shops sell small red gnomes,
The bright Neopia Central,
Is what I, a Nimmo, call home.

Sssidney's Scheme
By Anjie

Whisper, Whisper, night so cold,
The wind blows bitter here.
Tracing through a haunted wood,
Awash with dread and fear.

Rattle, Rattle, gates do swing,
The doorway to his world.
Ruined fairground is revealed,
And horror is unfurled.

Wicked, Wicked, is that voice,
That lingers in your ear.
Sssidney's crooked grin so spreads,
He laughs with ugly leer.

Hissing, Hissing, hear his words,
"Now try your luck, my friend?"
Cross his palm with Neopoints,
It's better just to spend.

Scratching, Scratching, hold the card,
For fortune, do you wait.
Sssidney cackling to the side,
You know he holds your fate.

Eerie, Eerie does he stand,
A Nimmo gone to waste.
A crooked top hat, ripped and torn,
On slimy crown is placed.

Shimmer, Shimmer, eyes do gleam,
They glow with knowing light.
In the mind of Sssidney, here,
There's nothing that seems right.

Fortune, Fortune, does luck hold?
Is he the friend he'll seem?
Was it triumph, was it fear,
That brings our parting scream?
