LUTARI DAY SPECIAL

Pirate Lutaris
by Indulgences

I know that pirates ought to be
So fierce and quick to fight.
But pirate 'pets, to me, are cute.
They fill me with delight!

The pirate that I love the best
Is of Lutari ilk.
Its cheeks are fuzzy, soft, and warm.
Its fur is smooth as silk.

A roguish red bandanna tied
Atop its friendly head
Is dapper, chic, and brightly hued.
It hardly makes me dread!

Its tail is large and fluffy, too.
It's curled and tinted grey.
I hardly can bemoan the fact
That, with it, I would play!

A vest so handsome, made of silk,
Is black and shiny stuff.
A shirt so white, its collar starched,
Has cufflinks in its cuffs!

Lutari Day is here at last,
So dress your 'pets with care!
A Pirate Paint Brush would be nice,
So cute and debonair!

The Marvelous Lutari Rollerskate Waitress
by Sugarypixiestix2

Her job is full of daily excitement,
she has no need for work incitement.
Being a favoured waitress on skates,
this Lutari doesn't drop her plates.

An award was given to her this week
for being on a perfect timing streak.
Customers of hers never have to wait,
for their orders are not ever late.

Balancing two trays is easy as pie;
she skates nimbly and will fly by.
Fellow employees admire the Lutari --
it's as if her arms imitate calamari.

No one can keep up with her speed;
each shift she is without a misdeed,
smiling to everyone with bright eyes
as she takes another order of fries.

Even her hair stays flawlessly sharp,
like a smooth quick strum of a harp.
Educated on all of her waiting tools,
there's no sense in giving her rules.

My Runaway Lutari
by Secant

Oh no, oh dear, where did he go?
My dearest Lutari, the fruit of my soul,
Has disappeared from the Pound once again,
Even though I tell him it's not permanent.

Oh dearest Lutari, apple of my eye,
Why do you disappear and leave me to cry?
I told you I'll be back, so do not fret;
I just had to make room for my other Neopet.

Disappear quickly, fade into thin air,
Lutaris are quick to avoid Pound care.
My other Neopet has now been traded,
So I'm back to pick up the Lutari I've jaded.

Oh... here you are, silly, you gave me a scare.
I hope you never run away again, you hear?

Dr Landlebrot's Creation
by Dr_tomoe

So, now we all know that
from order comes things chaotic,
so, to keep randomness in Neopia,
one has to think exotic.

To create Random Events
from mundane to amazing
Dr. Landlebrot created
a Random Event machine.

From every missed Boochi
to every found Neopoint,
the appearance of Jacko,
and the scared flaming robot.

Every odd encounter
and every lucky find
comes from the creation
of this Lutari's mind.

The truth of Neopia's chaos
might make some Neopians wince,
but it all comes from the device
aboard The Coincidence.

From the Money Tree ghosts
to a stray wraith's stare,
Dr. Landlebrot is the reason
that Adee is everywhere.

Loving Lutaris
by Catglove

Lutaris can be clingy,
You can't trade them away.
Be careful when you get one,
For, with you, they will stay.

Their claws can scratch the floor,
Their tails can't fit through the door,
They can be an awful bore...

But Lutaris can be loving,
Their tails are soft and warm.
If you get a Lutari
It will save you from harm.

So, on Lutari Day this year,
Instead of a Kougra or a Krawk,
Consider a Lutari, but choose well:
Lutaris are not for everyone.

For, if you cannot handle a Lutari
There is no going back.
You'll have to morph them,
So what's the point?
Your hard work is wasted.

Should you choose the other route,
The consequences are much worse.
Your Lutari will run off...
To where, who knows?
And it'll be all your fault.

The Plushie Lutari's Return
by Sharnee_sparkle

Once, on a frosty winter's night,
A girl was wandering Neovia,
Holding a toy with grip tight,
Her loved plushie Lutari.

Soon, snow came surging down,
So the girl fled in search of shelter.
The toy tumbled like a clown,
Onto the busy street below.

It didn't move, it didn't shout,
Folks trampled over the poor thing.
It was stuck, couldn't thrash about,
Seeming to have a terrible fate...

But then, what luck! What joy!
He was noticed under the commotion,
Picked up and stroked by a little boy,
Then tucked away in a rucksack.

Being a kindly little soul,
He tried to find the toy's owner.
So, around the town he took a stroll
Looking for a distressed child.

The task seemed quite a fruitless one
After searching for many hours;
Trudging through snow, not much fun,
Being freezing beyond belief.

But he stayed strong, not giving up,
Enduring an unpleasant smoky smell.
The bitterness of it made him hiccup,
But continued through the night.

Finally, hope seemed found!
He noticed a crying little girl,
The boy no taller than she on equal ground,
He pushed it into her clammy hands.

He dashed off into the darkness,
Before the girl could quite respond.
He needed no reward, though,
Except the smile that she returned.

Lutaris Can Cook
by Chavo_guerrero

I like baking different things,
I'm really quite a chef,
But cupcakes are my favourite,
I feel I must confess.

"A Lutari is no kitchen cook,"
They said when I was young,
So I went out of my way, of course,
To try and prove them wrong.

Every day I tried my best
To bake a cake or two.
I mastered pies, got bread to rise,
And even made fondue!

But, with cupcakes it is different,
They're the best thing of them all.
When I'm decorating icing,
I can really have a ball!

Pink and blue with butterflies
Or yellow with red dots,
I tend to forget myself
And end up making lots.

There's a reason they're so tasty,
An ingredient you can't know,
Every chef has secrets --
That's how we run the show.

So, if someone ever tells you
That a Lutari cannot bake,
Come and try my cupcakes
And the other things I make.

Lutari Of The Sea
by Fairyxhearts

I am a creature of the sea
Who lives both wild and free,
As most Lutaris will, others, tell
Proudly and with much glee.

I am happy with where I dwell,
In blue waters I know so well,
And home I call the certain bay
That has me firmly in its spell.

I am one who likes to play
By dancing along the spray
Of the ocean that is like a limb
To me each and every day.

I am a 'pet who loves to swim
Whenever I have the whim
Around my large if cosy bight
And on its many waves skim.

I am enthused by the sight
Of scales flashing in the light,
As I see others who comb
This place where I feel so right.

I am quite often out to roam
In hopes of seeing on the foam
These others who love the flows
And ebbs of our shared home.

I am an adventurer who goes
To the part of the bay the throes
Of the sea lead me wave by wave
Or wherever the breeze blows.

I am a Neopet who feels brave,
Even in the underwater cave
I sometimes find myself within,
As it is excitement that I crave.

I am a creature with no fin,
Yet it would be a definite sin
To say I am not of the sea,
As the waters and I are kin.

I am a Lutari.

Mr. Chipper And His Ice Cream
by Tj_wagner

In a valley of ice and cold,
There is a cart where treats are sold.
Delicious ice cream, sweet and mild;
All served with a happy smile.

Mr. Chipper runs this ice cream cart.
Scrumptious flavors set it apart
From other Happy Valley shops.
It’s the place you have to stop.

The Lutari stands near the rink.
With his smile, you might think
That he is a happy, gentle soul.
But his heart can turn quite cold.

Just try coming to this happy land
And buying a treat without a coupon in hand.
You’ll see his demeanor quickly change,
And you might want to run out of his range.

But Mr. Chipper’s ice cream is still the best,
Even if you have to do one Taelia’s quests.
Buy you one, if your nerves are steady.
Just make sure you have your coupon ready.

The Last Ghost Of Lutari Island
by Botamius

Through the perpetual storm I saw her,
The last ghost of Lutari Island.
Her image was of a young maiden Lutari,
Dressed in a gown of faded feathers.

On top of her head sat a crown of jewels:
Glassy, smudged, and void of light.
Around her neck hung a necklace of flowers --
They too had lost their hues.

Her eyes were turned away, away from me,
Away from the rosy setting sun
Across the horizon.
Focused only on the desolate island was she,
Her thoughts lingered
Like fog upon the swampy land.

What tied her spirit to that stormy pit?
What floating phantoms did she see?
What ancient voices did she hear?
What lay there for her? For anyone?

No meaningful direction to her paths --
Hovering across that bridge there,
Or drifting toward some stagnant pond...
Abandoned by everyone, except her.

It is as though she was waiting patiently
For the day when bountiful life returns,
And through the eternities
Her image would not age,
Though her mind would grow wearier
With each crashing wave.

Her eyes then turned slowly toward me,
But her expression did not change one bit.
To her I seemed to not exist at all --
I was more ghost to her than she was to me.

The poor young Lutari!
The silent wandering soul!
Stuck forever in that
Swirling whirlpool of the past,
Resting neither brain nor heart,
Endlessly passing through
The groves like humid tropical air,
Running her ghostly gown along the earth
Like cold unwanted rain.

Pity her, she who cannot escape the island.
Pity her, the last soul upon the land.
Pity her, the sole champion
Of her civilization's legacy.
Pity her, who seeks but is not rewarded.
And lastly, pity all the rest of us,
Who will never be able to unlock her mysteries.

***

When the sky grew fully dark and still,
I myself grew tired and drifted off to sleep.
Shutting out the world around me,
Ignoring the discomfort of sleeping on a ship,
I drifted into the world of dreams
Where, for the second time,
I saw the lovely ghost.
