DRAIK DAY SPECIAL

An Ode to Draiks
By Artickiss

There's a species that I know,
Who can be painted with a glow,
They're limited edition and very cute,
They even have a Christmas suit!
As a baby they look sweet,
When they're mutant they have clawed feet,
When they're ghost they look unwell
But rainbow makes them look quite swell!

As islanders they look quite funky,
But some are known to be quite skunky,
When starry or cloud they blend with the sky,
When Darigan they're scary guys!
When fire this one looks hot, hot, HOT!
It can also make a nifty robot,
Stripes make this Neopet look quite slim,
But if you say this it might embarrass him!
When shadow this guy looks quite cool,
When Maraquan he can be found in a pool

When Tyrannian this species' cuteness remains,
As a plushie it has good cause to be vain!
In blue, red and yellow,
He looks quite mellow,
In purple, orange and pink,
He looks good I think!
In white, brown and green,
He's likely to be seen,
There are even plushies and toys,
For the girls and the boys!

You ask me, "Who is this?"
I see you mean business
Well, since you asked nicely
I'll tell you precisely,
That the poem I make
Is all about the Draik!

Draik Guard
By Mythic_heart

In the faire olde land of Meridell
There stands a castle tall.
'Tis here oure tale doth take us
Far beyonde the castle walls.

Across the drawbridge, up the steps
High in the castle tower,
Where Celadric, a noble Draik
Guardes the door from houre to houre.

His wings of white outstretched and wide,
A helm upon his head,
And by his side, a silver speare
Yet little bloode's been shed...

For Celadric is no normal guarde,
Nor your typical Draik knave.
But The White Knight of faire Meridell
So valiante and so brave.

His thoughts are noughte but honourable:
Of protecting his faire land.
And so King Skarl entrusted
A dark secret in his hands.

Inside this castle tower, see,
Lies a secret few doth know.
Something feared was locked away
And hidden, long ago.

Many legendes speculate,
What lies behind this door.
Guarded by Celadric the White,
A Knight, noble and pure.

Draiks and Leeks
By sweetthing1813

How long ago had Draiks come to us?
A year or so, or was it two?
Right before (or was it after?) our dear Ixi,
The adorable creature that made us coo.

But they were greatly limited in number,
So I wept when I could not get one,
Not a single Draik was there for me,
Which, in my opinion, was no fun.

But then, oh yes, there was the egg.
A Draik egg was there for all to buy,
Getting one, though, would not be easy.
This was a thought that made me sigh.

So inside the Meridell food store I camped,
Waiting and waiting,
Hoping to snatch up a Draik.
But as I waited, I came out with none at all,
As getting that egg was not a piece of cake.

But as time went by and potions were created,
Hope for me to get a Draik was once again there.
However, the cost
Of the magical brew was great,
But not as much as to hatch
An egg in the Draiks' lair.

And so I saved as much as I could,
Playing games day in and day out,
Trying to win enough to buy that potion,
But it took so long that I was about to pout.

Until one day I was walking
Along Terror Mountain,
And decided to spend
Some time on a small quest,
She wanted three items, I believe it was:
Some food, a cloth, and some kind of nest.

Each item was cheap, not costing a lot.
In the end I had plenty left to spare,
Enough to buy my Neopets some food,
And maybe some toys to show I still care.

But what a wonderful surprise
Was waiting for me
When I returned to the house
With my items on hand,
Ready to give them
To the snow faerie's spell,
And prepared to get a reward
Like a bottle of sand.

But what luck was bestowed upon me that day,
When I looked to see what
I caught in my prize net,
Was nothing other than a ghost Draik potion,
Ready and waiting for my dear little Neopet.

And so, that is how I came by my Draik,
After lots of hard work -- week after week,
Only to get what I dreamed of so long,
With a small pinch luck and an organic leek.

The Draik Egg
By Stariell

I've got an egg, it's larger than most,
But I'm not going to cook it, or eat it with toast.
It's green and it's shiny, it's smooth to the touch,
And despite its size, it doesn't weigh much.

I've got an egg, I think it's the best,
I'm taking it to Meridell's famous Draik nest.
There I will lay it down in the soft thatch,
And sit back patiently until it starts to hatch!

I've got an egg, there's a tooth breaking through,
But from inside, not outside -- do you see it, too?
As the egg opens, there's a shimmer of scales,
Big leathery ears, and the smallest of tails.

I've got an egg, it's got awfully big eyes,
So cute as they blink up at me in surprise.
The slivers of eggshell all fall to the ground,
And I pick up the dear little Draik that I've found.

I had an egg, but it wasn't a food,
Eating such a dear little thing would be rude,
I can't imagine how anyone
Could put in their tummy,
This sweet tiny creature
That now calls me Mummy!

Escape from Meridell Castle
By Horserider213

Up the castle wall
Our hero flies
Scanning the horizon
With his piercing red eyes

He lands with a thud
On the cold hard stone
He is about to start his journey
When sees he isn't alone

A purple Grarrl
With huge white fangs
Stands and guards a door
Behind him a carcass hangs

With one slash of a sword
The enemy is gone
How easy he thought
And almost let out a yawn

He pushes open
The huge gold door
A set of stairs
Is next for him to explore

A clanking echoes
As he begins his descent
When he reaches the bottom
His energy is spent

He tiredly walks
Down a long hall
Through a tunnel
He now must crawl

"I hope I'm almost at the end,"
This tired Draik thinks aloud
To escape from this great castle
Is something to make him proud

He sees the light
Another door ahead
As he pulls the huge doorknob
His heart fills with dread

"Oh no!" he says, "It's locked!"
Then starts to turn around
The door swings open
And a rumbling shakes the ground

A great Kau
With fire coming from his nose
Sits on his throne
With long, flowy clothes

As he stood up to full height
And pulled out his wand
Valrigard felt frozen
Unable to respond

The enemy yelled a spell
Valrigard fell to the floor
He was already tired
Could he give anything more?

He gathered his strength
And gave a great heave
Soon he was standing
But his walk started to weave

He gave a last slash with his sword
And the Kau fell to ground
Behind his golden throne
Was where the exit was found
