Draik Day Parade

Oh, what a wonderful day it is
When the Draik parade comes by,
The streets are all so crowded,
Some Neopets have to fly.

These most magnificent creatures
Holding high their heads,
In a rainbow of different colours:
Halloweens, golds, and reds.

They band together this special day
To celebrate in style,
And the whole parade in Meridell
Goes on for mile and mile.

Some hold flags and some hold balloons,
Some in costume dressed,
But every Draik that's on the scene
Agrees this day's the best!

For, when it finally falls on Draik Day,
In the month of Gathering,
It's the biggest party of the year
And every Draik's a king!

There's games for all the young ones
Such as Bean Bag Tic-Tac-Toe,
And for the older and the wiser
There's their battle skills to show.

But every 'pet is invited,
If they be a Draik or not, 
If they're a Krawk or Tonu,
They can still come, all the lot!

For, Draik Day is for Draiks, it's true,
But it wouldn't be the same
If everyone couldn't join right in,
Regardless of their name.

So, let your 'pets get ready,
Let them dress up for the date
And come along to Meridell
So we all can celebrate!

The Winning Draik Boxer

His matches are always sold out,
in part to his thunderous clout.
Fans of all ages chant his name,
viewing him as a daunting flame.

He is the reigning boxing champ
and he doesn't even have a cramp.
Other boxers are jealous of him,
especially because he's so slim.

Not many boxers can stay strong
without looking like a huge gong.
As a Draik he's naturally got brawn;
exercising to him is a big yawn.

Though, his coach makes him train
to work out his clouded-up brain,
which helps keep his mind ready
so his body will not be unsteady.

A boxer has to know his opponent
from every vantage and component.
This has made him a sports idol
who will do anything but be idle.

My Precious Draiks

I gather all my Draiks to me.
I hug them near and close.
With perfect 'pets as fine as these,
I'll never be morose!

My royal Draik has lovely skin,
So bright with turquoise sheen.
Adorned with lovely emerald jewels,
His face is bright and keen!

My pirate Draik is painted well,
Her hook replaces hand.
I love her dashing pirate duds,
The finest in the land!

I'm thinking to adopt one more,
I'm unsure as to which.
A cheaper color may suffice.
I'm poor, instead of rich!

For now, I'll simply play some games
And watch my bank funds grow.
I'm set to make another Draik.
My 'pets are all aglow!

They thank me for their future friend.
They gather Petpets, too.
They want to shower our new Draik
With presents that are new.

So, celebrate this holiday
With new Draiks of your own!
You do not want your other Draiks
To feel sad and alone!

The Draik Soldier

The Draik Soldier stands in still solitude,
Constantly on duty atop the keep --
His gaze keen, watchful over Meridell,
Wary of the Citadel in the east.

His scales gleam green like Illusen's Glade; he
Adorns armor scarred by battles and time.
Setting sunlight ignites his coal red eyes:
He is the most loyal Draik of his kind.

King Skarl largely disregards his soldier,
But it was he during hectic Year Six
Who protected the townsfolk by guiding
Them into the castle, safe from conflict,

And it was he that led the sorcerers
Into combat against the Citadel.
The kingdom is unconscious of his deeds,
But the Draik Soldier's role was pivotal.

The Draik Soldier returned to guard duty,
Maintaining Meridell's daunting defense.
The unsung hero of King Skarl's domain
Upholds his values to serve and protect.

Ode To Reality The Royal Draik

Violet scales
And rich hued eyes
Outshine any treasure

Swirling smoke
And shining gems
Adorn the royal draik

Muscled tail
And wings adrift
With lightly hooded eyes

Signs of craft
And scent of magic
Drift soft upon her wake

More than fair
Yet less than sane
She walks between the dreams

Her eyes swirl
With power bright
As madness shines through her

Yet beauty
Defines her nature
‘Midst sparks of sanity

The Valiant Baby Draik

There was a baby Draik, cute as can be.
Making cooing sounds while bouncing on a knee,
In his pajamas and ready for bed...
Something had happened 
And his eyes turned red. 

The Pant Devil stole his favorite toy 
Right out of his hand, what a bad, bad boy! 
The other Draiks told him to stay put 
While they went to look, 
But the young one couldn't stay still, 
Until he could get back what the Pant Devil took.

Out the window he did fly, 
Not even wiping the tear from his eye, 
He could hear the sound of his favorite rattle --
Now it was time to confront with battle! 

Darting to the left and kicking to the right...
What a valiant little Draik while in flight! 
The Pant Devil ended up dropping the toy
After being defeated by a little boy! 

Victouriously, the valiant baby Draik went home, 
With his rattle in hand and without a groan. 
He went back to sleep and tucked himself in,
When his friends arrived back, 
They were sad, but grinned!

Very happy to see that pleasant smile, 
Rest assured, a smile that could go for miles!
And, I think it's safe to say 
They all got some good rest 
And had a Happy Draik Day!

The Brightvale Draik

She spreads her splendid silver wings 
And soars the skies of Meridell;
From this vantage point she sees all...
A peaceful emerald glade 
Where a lovely faerie resides,
Verdant farmland lush with fruits and berries.

She keeps her peace 
As she gazes upon the townsfolk below
Engaged in the business of living...
The glint of an arrow draws her eye 
To one who holds a bow;
Others test fate in games of luck and chance.

Gracefully, she ascends to mark that dark place 
Where she dares not go;
Once the citadel of an evil lord 
It now lies dormant,
But looming in the distance is the prize...
A resplendent castle rising above the mediocrity.

This is what she has come to see,
For nothing can compare to its majestic beauty;
She dips closer, 
As though to capture its unparalleled power,
Then slowly rises again, at once content.

Draik Day Special Celebration!

On the 25th day of relaxing
A discovery in Meridell was made,
A winged and scaly new addition
From another land had strayed.

Although we do not know for sure
Where these creatures came from,
We can easily say, with no dismay,
That we knew they would become...

...A welcome member of the crew
Of Neopets today,
And though they're scarcely spread,
They are a treasure anyway.

So, raise your hands and celebrate
The Draik Day here at hand.
We wish all Draiks a happy day
All through the Neopian land!

The Flight Of The Hatchling

In tiny oval, tension builds;
specked egg shakes with force.
Once roomy insides, now confine
the trembling’s tiny source.
Tiny talons strike tough shell,
quite eager to emerge. 
Narrow cracks appear, at last.
Small creature’s on the verge!

Strong snout pushes through thick shell
and bright eyes open wide.
They take in damp and rocky cave,
no longer forced to hide.
Little arms stretch wide and free,
wings flap, wet and new.
Young dragon uses all his strength
to finally break through. 

Sun beams dance on scaly skin, 
wings stretch wide and warm.
Claws dig deep into the ground,
muscles flex across his form. 
With such power, Draik takes flight,
arches back with strength.
Eyes lock high on skies above,
wings extend to length. 

Pushes off, against the earth,
The Draik begins ascent. 
Makes his way, up to the clouds:
the place of his content. 
Climbs against the airstream, 
wings are fully spanned.
They glide across the silver sky.
Eyes dote upon the land.

Ramblings Of A Draik Fanatic

Draiks, Draiks, Draiks, Draiks!
Oh, where do I begin?
The very name sets my heart aflutter
And my mind into a spin.

A Draik’s a pet of gleaming scales,
Majestic wings spread wide,
Primed steady at a moment’s notice
To shoot into the sky.

They’ve got slender, curving fins,
Dainty spikes and little claws -- 
Be careful, though -- they can spit flame,
So try not to make one cross!

They’re clever and curious souls
That oft explore and roam.
If trained, they can be fierce fighters
That rule the Battledome.

These wonderful 'pets are a rarity;
They’re expensive and hardly found!
But, then again, it’s no surprise to see
That there’s not enough to go around.

I myself follow this craze,
I’m a proud owner of four --
But believe me, if I had my way
I’d make a thousand more!

Draiks, Draiks, Draiks, Draiks!
Never quite so well
Has anything captured my heart as much
As these little Draiks from Meridell.
