GREY DAY SPECIAL

The Woeful Grey Nova
by Sugarypixiestix2

Almost all Novas sparkle with power,
like a sightly but dangerous flower.
Except one Nova that's uniquely rare --
at first glance it looks rather fair,

until you notice its inner sadness
and you wonder what is this madness,
only to find out its power is gone,
reminiscent to a day without a dawn.

It cannot be used in the Battledome;
the toy shelf is what it calls home,
sitting alongside puzzles and dolls
as a baby Chomby wanders the halls.

A Grey Nova's life is slowly still,
unlike other Novas it has no thrill.
It will never be used by a fighter
who wants his battle to be brighter.

The Grey Nova makes a wish each day,
that it will meet a faerie of grey.
In a hope that she will understand
its purpose and extend out a hand.

A Jolly Melancholy [What A Grey(t) Day!]
by Exequy

How overwrought, it's overcast
To grey 'pets once again.
Windy breath passed shiv'ring trees,
Here comes the angry rain.

But what a tryst they cannot see,
The light beyond the hill --
Instead of silver, they see grey
And deeper greying still.

What depths of melancholy
Do the grey 'pets quietly bow before?
Heads hanging low and sweetly sad
From the smiles they once wore.

But ah, be still my heart!
I see the grey ghosts dancing --
The thunder's loud, the clouds are thick
And yet the 'pets are prancing.

For here the grey 'pets trot about,
Happy passed their frowns,
For they are jolly in the rain
But shh! (Keep that secret safe and sound.)

Truth For A Day
by Flufflepuff

Today, the neutral tones of black and grey
Shall reign supreme over all gaudy shades,
On this blesséd day when light starts to fade:
In which hues choose to stay away today.

The truth sprouts forth
And suns itself with sighs,
Having been cramped
Within grey 'pets, no less.
They're devoid of color, not happiness,
On that sweet day, more than they realize.

Neopia's still desperate to fight,
Presenting vivid gifts to 'pets of grey,
But only to be spurned and turned away:
Such insults are not taken in good light.

And yet, can these poor prisoners be blamed?
Their scope was once monotone
And is once more.
They grey ask one day for their time to soar
And then shall return to hiding in fame.

Being In A Crowd
by Swordlilly

I like walking through the plaza
And looking at the shops.
They've Chrysaberry pizza
And Chocolate Neodrops.
I like listening to the sounds
Of Neopets saying "Hi!"
As they make their merry rounds
And briskly pass me by.
There's something very comforting
'Bout being in a crowd.
There's nothing like the silence
You can find when all is loud.

I like walking past the rainbow
'Neath which Neopets like to swim.
They dip and splash, and presto!
They are shining head to limb.
I like listening to the auctions
Of things I can't afford,
Like bubbling concoctions
Or a plushie, or a sword.
There's something very comforting
'Bout being in a crowd.
There's nothing like the silence
You can find when all is loud.

I like being on my own
Where nobody can hear me.
I'm as dull-grey as a stone;
I blend with Neopets near me.
A shopper rushing past
Would never see me there.
Restockers running fast
Would ne'er return my stare.
There's something very comforting
'Bout being in a crowd.
There's nothing like the silence
You can find when all is loud.

The Grey Zafara
by Tj_wagner

In a field of soft, green grass
Some young Neopets had a game to start.
All joined in this happy play,
Except for a grey Zafara who sat apart.

No one had asked if she wanted to join.
They didn’t think she did, as she looked so sad.
They assumed that she wanted
To be left alone.
They didn’t mean to be rude or bad.

But one young Ixi saw the Zafara sitting there
And slowly walked through the field her way.
“I saw that you were all alone,” she said,
“Would you like to join us and play?”

The Zafara looked up slowly at her,
And no one will ever forget what she said.
“Although my fur is the colour of stone,
My heart inside beats red.”

She continued in the same sad voice.
“Most only see my colour
When they look at me,
But I’m more than just grey fur,
And I wish they would take the time to see.”

The others felt immediate pangs of guilt,
As they threw aside their previous conceptions.
They learned that day that everyone is more
Than first glance perceptions.

The grey Zafara was great fun
And joined in their game happily.
Just remember that there is more to others
Than simply what you see.
